Hi, I recently bought a 68 brave on a Dod chassis with a 318 and a 727 trans. I have been trying to find any info on the net about the motorhome and cant find any real info. I'm going to have to do the brakes soon and there is no model distinction to get the right size/part numbers. The ID tag says it is a P300 model, but the only engine shown for a P300 is a slant 6 not a V8,. Anyone own  a 22' Brave of that vintage and have any info?
    Thanks, Ron

    Hi,Ron
just had a quick look amongst my paperwork, as i had terrible trouble identifying my kings highway so i know what it feels like.
firstly is the vin plate still on vehicle if so get the no off it, if not get under the vehicle pasenger side front wheel arch on the frame just in front of the wheel the vin number should be stamped its quite had to see but it should be there.

if the first three numbers are 326--------- its a six pot p300
if the first three numbers are 328--------- its a v8 prob 318

hope this helps the rest of the number is where it was built and sequence number.

Not sure how much help this would be, but part identification is a perennial problem with almost any old vehicle. Usually what I end up doing is just removing the part I'm replacing, then I take it with me to the shop or salvage yard so the replacement can be compared with the old part. Maybe bring a tape measure and the bolts/nuts/screws/fasteners to ensure everything will fit.

In the case of brakes, bring the shoes or pads if that's all you are replacing, or bring a drum/rotor with you to the shop. I find this method has worked extremely well for me in getting compatible matching parts.

As for the slant 6/V-8 thing. I see two possibliities. 1) their (third party) data sheets are incomplete or wrong (that happens more often the older or more obscure the vehicle is) or 2) it's possible a previous owner upgraded the original engine with an aftermarket engine. I think nigele has it right in your case though.

'P' designation usually reffered to a Van in the dodge line in my limited time as a partsman, but your best bet is to take the brakes off and take them to a napa and check them in their books to be sure.
