Dan
Wife got stitches out yesterday. Now we are looking at about 9 weeks of physical therapy.. But over all she is doing well. I wonder how aerodynamic a Dodge Banner is? Wild hair from sitting around to much, have a friend that has a 3-2 for big block chevy. Wonder how it would do on motorhome. Might give it a try and see if fuel mileage goes up or down. I think if I set the linkage up right it might work out well.

Rick--Years ago a friends parents bought a winnebago,late 60s I think.We promptly named it the Winnebagobox.
His dad was very proud of it and the first person he heard call it that was banished to the darkest of depths.I joined him when I called it an areodynamic brick.
It was a while before we were allowed back in the family circle.Might have taken 3or4 tanks of gas and a good head wind or two.
Soon as he could find a more steam lined model it was gone but he still flinched if you mentioned a Winnebagobox.Must have been gas pains.

I'm thinking that you have gone and taken care of the fuel tank. Next is finding the type engine. I would do a oil change and oil filter and leave the oil filter and and pan bolt out for overnight as the oil will be thick so If you are in the deep south that oil will come out like grease. While doing that change out the plugs and get a wire set and air filter and a Fuel filter. Also get a PCV Valve. and maybe a good time to make sure the hose is not broke so the PVC  Valve can do its job.. Once you have changed the oil and have a new filter in it. Don't crank it yet. Remember the 2-3 quarts I told you to put in. Leave it for a few days.If you don't the seal will leak and damage the pump and torque converterNow around 3-5 days and try and see if it will start.Don't rev. if it will idle let it and spray carb cleaner to help clear out the shellac in the carberator!! Next is really fun you need to drain out those 2-3 quarts that was put in to help seal things up. While at it I would put a new filter and as much new oil as you can put in . Now start it up and see what the gauges say. if things seem all good. The time to put it in gear. Slowly go though all gears and if you can feel it takng a pace in ther derection  Now after you roll some back it up into your drive and lock down the energency brake and with shifter in park get out and look at bothends of the transmission. and a good time to check power steeringBrake fluid levers, rear end shuld be check and filled and look for the vent and its hose. Make sure it is free amd not stopped up. After that kick back and relax !!! Hope you have a printer that can copy alll the text so you don't have what happens to me. Mind overload!!!!

Wallaby good advice. Also should drain and refill rear differential. Front wheel bearings should be inspected and repacked. Check the front brake lines, the rubber part for cracks while you are doing the front wheel bearings. d-a-n don't be surprised if the parts store tells you they don't have parts for your motor home. Just ask them to look up parts for 1 ton truck chassis and you will find that most are the same. My cousin has a early 70's class A and that is what he has to do to get parts.

Rick--Know what you mean about a wild hair. My bro. is so bad he took the family to Vancouver to watch the local ballet dance the Nut Cracker. He wanted me to go but I married a couple and don't need the memories stirred up.Mom was a ballet dancer 80 years ago in London England. She went with them.
I often wondered if an after market carb/intake,headers,ignition ect. would help these engines. The old time mechanics I was around used to call them thumpers simply because they sat at idle and went thump, thump.
One Mopar site I saw last night had someone who found a mid 60s, 413 truck motor and hoped he had found gold.Twenty people said get a 440, it's just a truck motor.
People who own the Discoverer25 I'm hovering over won't be back till late May fron California.Feel like a kid a Xmas eve.Santa is never going to come.
Spent today getting my Nephews 46 2ton Chevy ready to go to the body shop to be finished.I had a lot done on it but the weather closed in and now he has been asked to go to Afghanistan. He leaves in a month for training and then he will have about 4 months and then he goes.He is part of our National Guard.
The plan is to get it done and together before he goes.
How is you weather?Snows going here, grass is showing though.Worst winter since 1964.
Hope your wife has an easy time with physical therapy and a speedy recovery.
Steve.
