Hello, from my experience between 6 & 12 mph I have heard of 18 mph but it's not often and I question the of the validity claim.and the rear end gear ratio.
As for the trans, a big yes the smoothness of the shifting and how cool it runs will contribute to your fuel economy, keep the fluid clean and changed regularly...another thing 4speed or 3 speed trans will make a difference.

opinions WILL differ. keep checking around there are all kinds of fuel boosting ideas check with a local mechanic and here for more ideas like, an over-drive add on etc.
