I'm gonna have to take a lookiesee at my rear brakes before we hit the road Weds. I've noticed a puddle of brake fluid by the inside of the Rt Rear wheels. I'm suspicious that I may be rebuilding that caliper in the next few days? Another concern is the really grungy look that the fluid in the master cylinder had when I checked that yesterday, but I think I'll try to postpone the 4-corner overhaul and flush/fill for a few months while winter does its thing. Anyone have any tips, cautions, comments? Are the calipers attached the same way as other GM brake calipers of that vintage (some kind of giant-sized hexhead bolt)?

    Brian,
On mine they use a sliding pin between the caliper and mount that uses a single hex bolt to hold it in. Pretty easy to remove.

After I spent a Saturday trying to gravity bleed my system I finally broke down and bought one of those $40 brake bleeder vacuums from Harbor Freight. Works like a charm...just make sure someone can keep filling the master cylinder or you'll be crawling under and out twenty times

This may be a bad time to tell you this but the P-30 manual says to bleed and flush brakes every 2 years...I do beleave I am going to be in trouble, I haven't done this in 8 years!! Ouch!!!
