Great site and I hope it only grows bigger!

Questions,   What does the do-hicky that looks like a relay or contacter that is sitting obove the alternator do?  Big wire on top that is always 12 volt and I can't seem to trigger the selenoid to send power to the bottom lead.  It has a few smaller wires on the two side posts too.

2nd ?   I read a post about the onan and a knob on the back of the carb to tune lean and rich.  The thread said if yur a newbe to onans don't mess with it.  Well I'm a day late on that thread.  So now how do I fine tune the engine without having an o2 sensor installed?  Stacey

Stacey, That  "do-hicky" screwed down to the arm is the S-LEAD (Starter relay box)................Mine dropped dead and would NOT start the engine and they cost about $15.00 to $20.00...And I carry a spare.

I tune the genny with the knob by the rich/lean smell......With your hand on the knob and your facing the genny turning the knob counter clockwise will lean it out and it doesn't take much either way...........And it takes a few minutes to rebalance out.

Also a tool like the "Kill O Watt" to check the frequency (60 HZ) and power (120V) is one cool tool to keep in your rig......

With no load you should have 62 hz and 125v. At full load the specs are 58hz and 105 v. hope that helps.
