I just checked the Airstream Forum and they're still at it.  They are launching a campaign against Motorhomes since Thor wants to use one of their current models and call it an Airstream.  Who cares?  Let Thor do as they want!

That is the main reason that this Forum was started.  Even today there were disparaging remarks about Motorhomers feeling they were better that trailer owners."The good old boys buy them so they can show they are better than us, travel easier or what have you."  A direct quote.

I don't feel that way about anyone else and it disgusts me that they act like the French Revolution all the time.  Each time I see one of the Motorhomers getting dissed, I send them a PM to come and join our group.  Let's not let our group get as nasty as that one has become.  I encourage anyone to contact friends to join us, but let's be careful we don't end up with a group of envious folks like that.

    Cooperhawk,
I started that thread to bring attention to the fact that AS will become not AS. Many RV companies have been bought out, merged, etc. The parent company will usually keep the same name and manufacturing facilities. Monaco is a good example of that.
I have heard a million times my squarestream MH is not a real AS, but not by the factory or anybody else that knows anything. It's usually the high brow trailer or classic people that say it isn't so. I don't lose any sleep over it, because I know it is a real AS. My question would be, prove it to me that it is not a real AS and stay away from personal opinions and like Jack Webb used to say (just the facts ma'am)

I hardly feel it is worth attacking all these nice people over such a minor thing.  Of course your's is an Airstream.  We started this forum to get away from that.

It's truely a shame to create any kind of division among owners. I read a number of posts that singled out the classics as the only "real AS MoHos". I'm sure the Land Yacht and 390XL owners out there would argue that at 200K Airstream is as much a part of the club as anything.

Sometimes I think people think AS exists to support the club.

I've also received a lot of positive feedback from MH owners so far about this forum. I remember about ten ASF members who really helped me out in the early days of my 345 ownership. One by one they were lost. I keep in touch with a few via email and telephone and they expressed their dissatisfaction with the politics on the site.

A few have already joined over here. Perhaps more will follow.

Isn't Airstreaming an Attitude more than anything else? I mean by that friends getting together with friends and sharing a good time camping?

I have to say I get frustrated by all the dooms sayers...

Thanks.  What a refreshing forum.  Just a site to help each other out and exchange information.  I don't own a classic, but I love going through them and just looking.  I looked for one before I brought mine, but couldn't find anything real decent in this area for sale and I didn't have the time or patience to renovate.  I also didn't mean to come on so strong, but the other forum kinda raised my ire.

Welcome aboard.  We are all political refugees here.  We don't have an axe to grind against anyone and only want to share helpful ideas.  Check out our DIY section.  I doubt those other folks realize how silly they sound sometimes.

bfred, welcome. There is a reason these things are called "recreational" vehicles.

The devil made me do it.  There was a post about starting a "New Airstream Club for just Classic Trailer Owners" and I couldn't resist throwing a hand grenade.  I replied, "Go ahead, the Motorhomers won't miss you."

Saw your latest post on the other forum Steve.  Give it up.  You're trying to argue logic with people who are answering out of envy and percieved hatreds.  You're not dealing with rational individuals.  They seem to overlook the fact that many of them have more money in their trailers than we do in our Motorhomes.  They only feel the envy of that maybe we're one up on them.  Then a few of the radicals fan the flames and lots of fools follow along.

In reality, it is an interesting study of the human condition.  You can see every aspect of the human mind in the group.  I used to try to introduce logic and fair play and was amazed at some of the replies and some of the private messages really got interesting.

I got one from the lady in Lapeer, Michigan that was a doozy.  Like she was personally protercting mankind from the likes of me.  I answered that she needed to get over it, cause I didn't give a damn what she thought.

I can't help myself. Saw some that were blasting the Prevost and High Line motorhomes out there. Turns out a few AS owners also own Prevost and hopped on the thread.

    Yikes, it's just camping!

No kidding! I have no interest in any of it based on the behavior I've been so far on ASF. I'm not much of a joiner anyway...more of a do-er and a hang-around-er.

Rally forums are indeed fun. Went to AlanDs a couple of years ago and it was super relaxed and casual. We checked out the trailers and other motorhomes...met some cool people. Actually 87MH was there!

He does have the cleanest 345 I've ever seen!

I guess with all the technology available (like this site) why not say "Hey, Going Camping...anyone want to come?" and leave it at that.

Been gone all day to see my Mother in the Nursing home.  Got back and see that you guys have been active.

We often go camping on Lake Mille Laqs in central Minnesota.  My cousin has a trailer up there on a permanent lot and we park in the adjoining camp ground right by the lake.  Then we either use his 20 foot boat to fish there, or tow my 16 foot to local lakes.  Lots of fun and fish fries.

Mille Laqs is a huge lake!
